An ongoing series of monotypes (starting in 2017) that explore the prairie as an interior landscape. “Empty” spaces predominate in the prairie, from then nearly treeless grassland to the increasingly depopulated settlements. The mystic religious traditions consciously embrace emptiness (in both material or spiritual forms) in order to discover a deeper, paradoxical presence inside the absence.
