The School for Rural Culture and Creativity: Fundraiser Exhibition and Event: June 19, 2021

The School for Rural Culture and Creativity is a new nonprofit venture in Matfield Green, located in the 1938 Elementary School building. “The School” is a developing space for community, art, agriculture, and ideas for rural life. The building includes four classrooms, a gymnasium/auditorium, and kitchen. All spaces are simultaneously in use and under construction (but more construction than use at this point). The grounds include a public playground and native prairie garden. Upcoming projects and proposals include: a printmaking studio, exhibition space, conferences, events, open-gym, community gardens, and a small orchard.

On Saturday, June 19, we will host an exhibition of donated works by a group of artists committed to this project (later to be announced). All proceeds from the event as well as additional monetary gifts will be matched by The School’s partnering organization, Third Coast Activist Resource Center. This event will also feature a local rummage sale and activities for kids. We also hope to have live music and pie. More details about The School and this event can soon be found at the following website (under construction): For questions, contact:
